Getting started
- Install Pocket Jesus from the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. (Coming soon — we’ll update this page when it’s available.)
- Open the app. No account or sign-up is required.
- Start a conversation. Ask anything you’d ask a thoughtful Catholic friend — about faith, doctrine, prayer, doubts, or everyday life.
How it works
Pocket Jesus is a conversational app. You type (or speak) a question or thought, and the app responds in the voice of a thoughtful, prayerful friend. Responses are informed by Catholic teaching and deeply rooted in Vatican tradition.
The app is meant to be a companion, not an oracle. We’ve trained it to be careful with hard questions, to point you toward Scripture and the Catechism where it makes sense, and to recommend that you talk to a priest, counselor, or doctor when those are the right resources.
Subscription & billing
Pocket Jesus offers an optional subscription with extended features. Billing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.
- Manage or cancel: Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or App Store → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your Mac.
- Restore purchases: In the app, tap Settings → Restore Purchases to re-sync your subscription on a new device.
- Refunds: Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your privacy
- Conversations aren’t saved anywhere — not on our servers, and not on your device — unless you tap the heart on a response, which saves the actual question and answer text to your device only.
- We don’t require an account, and we don’t track who you are.
- Questions you ask are sent to our AI service to generate a response, then discarded.

Troubleshooting
The app won’t open or keeps crashing. Restart your device, then make sure you’re on the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS. If that doesn’t fix it, email us with the model of your device and the OS version.
Responses feel slow or wrong. Check your internet connection — Pocket Jesus needs a connection to generate responses. If you keep getting unhelpful answers to a particular question, please email us a copy so we can improve.
I lost my conversations. Conversations aren’t saved when they end — only responses you explicitly tapped the heart on are kept, and those live on your device only. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, your saved responses are gone too. We don’t keep a copy of any of it.
My subscription isn’t working. Open the app and tap Settings → Restore Purchases. If that doesn’t help, see Apple’s subscription support.
A note on AI and theology
Pocket Jesus is an AI app. It is not an official voice of the Catholic Church, and it is not a substitute for the sacraments, pastoral care, spiritual direction, or professional mental-health or medical advice. If you’re in crisis, please reach out to a qualified human:
